The GXT150M, codenamed Neptune, appears in lsdev as nep0.

On the 1-E, there are four more 93G9842 on the reverse of U13-18 for a total of 8. Perhaps this is the difference between the 1-D and the 1-E?

The 1-D might use larger SMD chips for U5-8 and U2,3,9. The PCB suggests that larger chips were used. Teeny tiny legend on the chips, maybe 1/32nd of an inch high.

Interlaced display modes are not supported by these graphics adapters.

AIX 3.2.5 Funnies

The APAR required for the GXT150M is IX42626, so that's where the 42626 came from. However, the PTF number you should look to see if it is installed on your system is U439284. I got that from looking up IX42626 on IBMLink.

:  Does anyone know exactly what PTFs are needed to get the GXT150M card to work?  We just a new machine in with this card and our standard AIX clone doesn't seem to have the drivers for this card....

I remember wasting more than a week on this one when GXT150Ms had just come out.  PTFs won't do it.  There's an actual operating system (bos) component you need that shows up now in my system as:
nep.ddx 01.01.02.00  COMMITTED  GXT150M Graphics Adapter DDX
nep.mcx 01.01.02.00   COMMITTED  GXT150M MC/X Extension
nep.vdd 01.01.02.00   COMMITTED  GXT150M Graphics Adapter VDD

As I recall, this code has been on shipments of AIX 3.2.5 since Aug 94, but good luck on finding out WHICH shipments....

Ed Ravin got it to pop:
I just got X working on a 39H with a GXT150M.  First, I installed  U439284, then I installed the "nep" drivers (the GXT 150M support files, they can't be installed until you've first installed U439284), then, when it still didn't work, I got the bright idea that maybe the card needs a little initialization at bootup.  So I rebooted (with a power off just to make sure -- you never know, especially with IBM), and X came up just fine after that.

"nep" should be on the tape or CD that came with your system -- I found mine on an AIX 3.2.5 bootable CD, but I think I saw it on some of the install tapes too.
